notes from 53 Stations

This Q1, we focused on our network. Through both events we hosted and ones we attended, we connected with the founders, operators, and investors shaping the next generation of healthcare, financial services, and infrastructure. We see these events as the best way to advance our belief that the best investing happens through relationships.

You’re Invited

Will you be at the BuiltWorlds Chicago Global Summit? We’d love to see you at our happy hour, co-hosted with GS Futures on Tuesday, April 14 from 5:00–7:00 PM CDT at Bar Siena.

We're bringing together founders, investors, and operators working across construction tech, infrastructure, and the built environment — whether you're in town for the BuiltWorlds Chicago Global Summit or just based in the city.

News From Our Portfolio

Our portfolio companies have been busy this Q1.

In case you missed it, Antares received DOE-approval for its Preliminary Documented Safety Analysis of the Mark-0 reactor, meaning that the company’s first demonstration reactor meets the Department’s standards as it’s scheduled to achieve criticality before July 4.

Kaya AI launched Amber, an AI agent built for construction workflows. Range Co-Founder and CEO Fahad Hassan appeared on The Motley Fool podcast to tell listeners why AI will replace financial advisors entirely. Altana CEO and Co-Founder Evan Smith talked to Semafor about supply chain risk.

Also, Joe Kava—an advisor to Kaya AI—recently made The Information’s list of “16 Data Center Executives Leading the AI Buildout.”

Lots more in store for the companies we are proud to back.

Getting into the mind of the CFO

This month, we hosted a virtual session for CFOs across The Pritzker Organization portfolio.

The gathering gave us clear insight into how these CFOs are running the function today: where the pressure is, what's working, and where we might be able to support them. We’re continuously learning about the needs and challenges CFOs face at mature-scale companies, with the goal of identifying opportunities that will drive value for all parties: the CFOs, our portfolio companies, and the startups we’ll partner with in the future. Chinedu, on our investment team, led the session and wrote up a recap here.

Innovation in Idaho

In partnership with Pete Mathias of Reveille VC, we brought together a group of more than 30 investors and operators to get a firsthand look at the future of nuclear innovation. And there was no better place to do that than at the heart of nuclear innovation itself: Idaho National Laboratory, the country’s lead nuclear energy research facility. Read on here for our takeaways from the summit.

AI dominates at JPM Healthcare

While rapid change in healthcare might shake up the big players, more competition also means improved care for patients. As AI reshapes what's possible in healthcare, we see the companies focused on execution and delivering measurable outcomes emerging as winners. More here from us on J.P. Morgan’s healthcare conference.
